5 Mindset Shifts // Overthinking to Presence

Hi friends,

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about life, how fast time flies, and how I want to spend mine. Anyone else? I can quickly let my mind spin, begin to overthink things, and end up feeling frozen in time. It’s easy to get lost In our minds while navigating the ambiguities of this life.

This week I’m sharing 5 mindset shifts I use to stay grounded, centered, and present to combat these limiting beliefs.

  • Get curious about what’s beneath the rush of emotion

    • Keeping my journal out and open. When I feel a flood of emotion, I simply let myself write it out. It’s not organized, elegant, or planned…but it’s real and it’s insightful. It’s proven to be a way to honor myself by acknowledging what’s going on rather than just planting that seed deeper. Let’s dig it out, and observe. I learn new things about myself every time.

  • Keep the gratitude going

    • Take time to notice any shift in your physical body. Remind yourself, you’re in control and energy flows where focus goes. This is when I drop into a quick gratitude practice. Literally visualize the people, places, and experiences you’re grateful for. Place your hand over your heart. Tap into the feeling and let it wash over you. It may take a few moments, but it will come and it will fill your cup. Often, my breath, providing healing life energy, is the simplest, quickest gratitude reflection. Then I move to being grateful for my sight, and on and on.

  • Focus on and expand your breath

    • See if you can fill up your belly, ribs, then chest. Breath in security and love. Next locate the feeling of anxiety/fear - exhale the physical tension out, squeezing the belly to spine. Repeat. Sometimes moving through a quick yoga flow, fueled by this breath will allow this energy to make it’s way out of our systems as well.

  • Do something simple yet productive

    • Complete a few small tasks to encourage new momentum. Make the bed. Read a chapter of a book. Set a timer for  20 mins to clean. These small tasks will help you to feel accomplished and will naturally shift your mindset.

  • Phone a friend

    • Absolutely, pick up the phone. We’re not meant to do life alone, and the spice of life comes from community with others. We are designed to walk, talk, encourage, and share with others. Life can be wildly messy, beautiful, heartbreaking, rewarding and often all at the same time. Embrace your people and see where your shared vulnerability may lead to a healthy pillar of healing. Honesty is key, so be mindful to reach out to friends who are able to hold space for you.

It’s my hope that by sharing these tools, you can begin to, in real time, tackle the many limiting beliefs we can get paralyzed by. The truth is, life is now, and I believe at the core, our desire is to not miss this. It takes practice and commitment to rewire our brain patters, but the payout is beyond worth it. Fear, the unknown, and self-doubt can lead us to days of getting lost mentally in cycles of worry and decision paralysis. Lets break the patterns, tap into the now, and revel in the beauty that is this moment, wherever we are in the journey. This moment is far to magical to miss.

Sending my love,

Kendall
